💾 Where does the 210 GB figure come from?
It comes from the X account PlayStation Game Size (@PlaystationSize), which posts the size of PS5 games before they come out. On October 27, it reported a 210 GB download size for the Standard Edition of GTA 6 on PS5.
⚠️ Neither Rockstar nor Sony has confirmed it. The PlayStation Store doesn't list the required space yet. So take the figure with caution: the final size may still change.
What about Xbox Series X|S? No size has been given so far, neither by Rockstar nor by a leak.
📅 Pre-load opens on November 12
This part is official. According to Rockstar, the digital versions of GTA 6 can be pre-loaded from November 12, 2026 at midnight (local time), on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Pre-loading lets you grab the files ahead of time: you'll be able to play as soon as the game comes out on Thursday, November 19, without waiting for a long download.
📦 Counting on the boxed version? It hits stores on November 12, but it contains a download code, not a disc. So you'll have to download the game either way.
📊 Is 210 GB a lot?
Yes. On an original PS5, the 825 GB SSD only offers about 667 GB of usable space. GTA 6 alone would take up nearly a third of it.
Here's how long a 210 GB download takes, depending on your connection (theoretical calculation, at full speed):
- 🐢 at 30 Mbps: about 15 h 30 min;
- 🚗 at 100 Mbps: about 4 h 40 min;
- 🚀 at 1 Gbps (fiber): about 28 minutes.
That's why pre-loading matters: with 7 days ahead of you, a connection of about 3 Mbps is enough, in theory, to get everything before launch.
